“Wining and losing is the part of game”, we often come across with this statement in our daily life but let’s think for a moment, do we really believe this? or do we normally accept this in real life? I don’t think so. Although I used to believe that it is an acceptable statement but not any more, especially in the context of Pakistan. The incident which actually changed my belief is none other than the recent series played between Pakistan and England in U.A.E which is considered as the home ground of Pakistan.Misbah-ul-haq was leading the Pakistani team and he was being considered as one of the greatest captain of Pakistan, as Pakistan had already won the series against Srilanka in the same ground few months back under his captancy. In the series against England, he was being proved a very good leader, as Pakistan white washed the world’s best test cricket team “England” and led the series 3-0. It was a remarkable achievment for Pakistan. But in the next round of ODI, England came back with a very powerful strike and white washed Pakistan by leading the series 4-0. Not only this, Pakistan lost the T20 series as well by 2-1. The whole nation demonstrated resentment towards Pakistani captain who was considered as the ‘HERO’ of Pakistan few days back.
No doubt our captain performed sluggishly in almost rest of the matches after test series, but that dosent mean he deserves such humiliation. The whole nation, who was considering Misbah as one of the greatest captain, now is in favour of his retirement. Isn’t this sounds ridiculous, perhaps to those who are unfimiliar to Pakistan or Pakistani nation. This has been happening since the inception of Pakistan. Pakistani nation always wants to see itself as a winner, but this dosen’t happen in practical life and this is the reason why this nation is famous as far away from the so called “Practicality”. Today if you are the winner, tomorrow the winner would might be someone else. You can’t remain at the top always. Talking specifically in context of cricket, let’s take a look at one recent example from the same cricket series, the world class and one of my favourite English cricketer Kevin Pietersen (KP). KP’s performance was not up to the mark since the start of the test series and which was continued to first two ODIs as well. I was listening to the commentary while watching the 2nd odi and heared from one of the two commentators that KP is not performing good and if he had played for Pakistan, he would have terminated by the board. But english board and team kept faith on KP and rest is the history. KP not only performed well in the remaining two ODIs and was man of the match but proved as the man of the series in T20 as well. My point is simple and clear that if today we are stealing the show then tomorrow it would be stolen by others.
We should try to accept the reality and should accept the opening staement of my writing. All we need to do is to react sensibily not only in cricket but in every other field of life. A single year hasn’t passed yet to Misbah as a captain and in this short span, he has given some fantastic results as well. He should be given some time atleast. I am not defending Misbah-ul-haq that he was not at fault altough there was lots of flaws were there in his batting but all I am trying to say is that we should control ourselves and don’t pass judgements about anyone or anything without thinking for a single moment. We should try to have some patience so that we can move towards some rational decisions and can avoid the same mistakes in future.
agree with you admin misbah is very good captain and some times we people behave like a uneducated peoples, and judgmental
