How Does MMS Technology Work

For the working of MMS, it is necessary that cellular phones should be connected the internet. MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) allows MMS to be sent or received to cell phone user. Simply we can say that it is the way of sharing video and audio files. The message is sent to an MMS messaging center and handled in same way as SMS. When MMS finds the recipients then it delivers the messages to WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) gateway. This WAP allows the mobile phone to be connected to the Internet and to access web pages. WAP gateway transmits an SMS message to recipient the SMS informs the phone that an MMS is in pending. Then recipient uses WAP GET command to request file from MMSC (Multimedia Messaging Service Centre) then WAP gateway converts WAP GET command into HTTP GET command that can be understood by the MMSC. Finally MMSC sends MMS file via the WAP gateway to the cell phone where it can be viewed and listened.
